Surprise – it snowed again in Boston today. Kill me. Thankfully, it wasn’t as MUCH as they said, but still enough to shut down the city. And it’s COLD. So, in true day-off-on-a-snow-day fashion, I’m in sweats with bedhead. You are welcome.
Having all day to play, I pulled out the “Smoky Eye” and “Softlight” Cover Shot Palettes by Smashbox that I got for my birthday a few weeks ago. I created two different three step looks – one ‘everyday’ and one ‘dramatic’. My only gripe is I don’t know if the label on the bottom is the name of the colors directly above it? Is it supposed to be a mirror image? So, I wrote the name I thought it was and a color description, just so there is no confusion! Recreate and tag me on insta – @makeupandmarathons.com! The Snowday Mermaid
I primed my lids with Tarte Shape Tape – but, you can use any full coverage concealer to fill lines and create a smooth surface to work on. In the crease I put Instinct (the top , dark brown color) with a fluffy crease brush. From there, I used a flat brush to cover my lid in STFU (the best name – the green color). I used a bit of the silver color Rock Me under the green and then over it on my inner and outer corners. I then used the sparkly-black (Headline) to smoke out my upper and lower lash line. With a look this dramatic, you KNOW I was going for that wing. I used the Tarteist Clay Paint Liner in Black.
It’s Spring – Right!?
I started with Starlight (the lightest pink shade) all over the lid – which I loved because it almost had a prismatic-effect to it. I did a clean-crease line with a very precise brush (I love the one from this Tarte collection), and then cleaned it up with some concealer. From there, I blended together the crease color with the lid (Well, Hello – that’s the color, not me being funny) until it was almost like a ‘sunset’ effect. I also cleaned up the edge with some concealer to make a really sharply-defined cut-off. I deepened the crease again to add more dimension – which I did find hard with this palette because all of the colors are so light. I highlighted my brow bone with ‘Keeper’, and ran a little ‘Well, Hello’ along the lower lash line. I finished it off with a much smaller wing, using Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner in Trooper.
