Another miss off of the New Arrivals page at Sephora.
I always grab things that are newest to review with you guys from that evil page – it has taken more of my money than I care to admit. But, foundations don’t usually do me wrong. My skin has a lot of texture right now from bad breakouts this year, but for the most part is not oily nor dry. I always need a quick foundation choice to snag from the collection on my vanity. In my opinion you can never have too many foundations (in case you travel and accidentally leave one behind – also known as me every single weekend).
The Stellar Brand Foundation didn’t really blow my mind, though. I love a really full coverage and as you can see by the initial application, that was definitely not the case here. The redness of my breakouts was very much visible – no, thanks. It also had a weird finish when it dried. It wasn’t really a powder finish, but definitely was NOT a dewy finish. I did apply Bare Minerals over for some additional coverage, as well as a bit of the Maybelline Better Skin Powder (a drugstore-holy grail for coverage under my eyes and t-zone), and even after doing that I still didn’t love how it looked. The formula was buildable, but I felt like the finish was compromising the smooth and airbrushed look I was going for. I think it just came down to not being enough coverage for me – period.
However, I think I almost liked the foundation BETTER at the end of the day. What I did apply stayed consistent throughout the day without touchup – I would have liked more coverage (obviously, if you haven’t gotten that by now), but I could see this being a good foundation for Summer – it is light and buildable, not greasy. I might give it another go come Summer time, but right now I’m ok without it.
