It took me forever to get my hands on the new Marc Limited Edition bronzer. I’m always reluctant to buy things that are Limited Edition and always sold out because…what if I love them? Then, I feel the need to buy four of the same thing and at this price point, $200 worth of bronzer is a little excessive (even for me).
Anddd what do you know. I freaking love it. Damn it.
It was a fair assessment too – I hadn’t ever tried the Original Marc Bronzer before (shame on me for missing out on this cult favorite for so long). Bronzers are always my go-to in the Summer when I don’t really want to do a harsh contour over a lighter foundation. The pans are ridiculous in size – twice the size of the MAC bronzers (MAC is 0.35 oz, the MJ’s are 0.8 oz – so MORE than double). The bronzer really adds an amazing color to my face before I get a chance to lay by the pool (it’s still chilly here, of course, so I need all the help I can get).
In the preview photos, I used a teenie bit of the Hourglass Vanishing Foundation stick dabbed around and mixed with Shape Tape concealer, set with Laura Mercier translucent powder. I also very lightly did under eye concealer – my goal is to get a full coverage, but not a super heavy cake (ain’t nobody got time for that in the Summer). Even though I used super-full coverage foundation, mixing it with a bit of the Tatcha The Water Cream has been something I’ve used to cut any of my foundations to make them a little lighter, moisturizing and Summer ready (without adding flashback for any photos). My lighting on the darker one is a little off – took it at night, sorry – but you can obviously see there’s a much deeper cut there.
I used a Mac 168 Brush to apply and cleaned between applications to make sure I got a super pure effect of each color. If you can tell by the product shot, the black packaging is a shade or two darker than the new O!mega version in the white. I’m going to refer to these as ‘white’ and ‘black’, for simplicity sake, for the rest of the post. Also, I’m pretty lazy and tired. It is what it is.
The white bronzer smells AMAZING! It smells like sunscreen mixed with coconut – one of the best things about it. It’s one of the reason the internet went ape shit for that Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer last Summer (because it smells like a tropical vacation). It’s a much lighter bronze (which isn’t as obvious from the product shot, but the white bronzer has more of a grey undertone. It’s so much more natural looking in my opinion – as the black packaging’s tones are more orange and pink.
Based on the coloration, I felt the white bronzer is more of a traditional bronzer tone – wow, does that make sense at all? Let me back track – the black bronzer is a much more defined contour. A night out with cut-ass cheekbones – reach for the OG. For a Summer sweaty dance sesh, the white is going to be my go-to.
Overall, I’m super impressed with the way these applied, stayed AND looked on my skin. New holy grail – dare I say it?
