This is one of the weirdest things I’ve tried in awhile.
What sucks me in more than the New Arrivals page at Sephora, you ask? The Daily via the Sephora App – usually a pre-order opportunity for VIB Rouge or just app users in general, it features the newest fixes for beauty junkies. Also known as ANOTHER way Sephora gets my money. I open it every single morning over my coffee, oo-and-ahhing over the next thing available exclusively (and today only). My card is already saved and I have VIBR flash shipping. It’s painless and painful, all at once.
Also, has anyone noticed I’ve been talking about shopping at Sephora like self-mutilation lately? Never mind, moving on.
This was so intriguing to me. I love a good charcoal, face wash, and am always down to try unconventional products. The Boscia Charcoal Jelly Ball Cleanser; this is as unconventional as it gets. There is a thin clear balloon around the ball itself that you pop with this cute little flower pin that comes with it. The balloon is designed to preserve the product before it hits your bathroom sink because it truly is a ball of gel. You rinse the ball off to create a lather, and then use it to take off your makeup (either by generating a thicker lather in your hands OR by rubbing the sphere directly on your face).
It’s definitely different – and you have to hold a tight grip on this blob. Not sure if the actual gel-formula-in-a-ball-form is really necessary. What really gripes me about this product is what the hell you do with it after. You can’t put it back in the balloon since you broke the seal to open it. I kept the hard plastic encasing the product came in, but now it’s damp and soapy exposed to the open air. If you can imagine a silicone/soap ball, dabbing it with a towel creates a film of fuzz that makes it even more disgusting in texture. This is strange, and potentially unsanitary. I’ve used it twice so far and the second time cringed at the thought of soap scum being massaged into my pores.
It certainly takes my makeup off entirely though – I used it for the first time after my W&W review, so had quite a bit to take off. The photos below were after one layer of the gel ball in circular motions around my entire face. Not bad!
Has anyone else tried this and what did you store it in after ? Let me know in the comments!
