My tan lines right now are…interesting, to say the least. This a combination of not having time to even out the mishaps by laying outside, then working outside with yoga pants with stripes down the back and forgetting to put sunscreen there. Seriously, these tan lines are the worst which makes wearing cute, Summer tops nearly impossible.
That being said, the focus on self-tanning has been pretty real. Below are my favorite, go-to products that I’ve been using to…help…
Self Tanner Mitt – Nothing too special about this tanning mitt. Honestly, I think it was the cheapest one on Amazon. One thing though that was an absolute must-have was that the glove be black – although I try to wash my tanning mitt after every like two applications, I hate when its just sitting around looking dirty. One of my biggest pet peeves, and I’m sure any sane human guest using my bathroom when they’re visiting. I’ll never forget my boyfriends face when I rested it on the counter to dry (‘what IS that’).
Back Tanner – Another thing my boyfriend hates about my tanning routine is helping me do my back (sorry, babe). This is one of those things I wish I had invented first, but it’s basically just a velour strap that can be wiped back and forth across the hard-to-reach parts of your back. I’ve used it three or four times and it’s actually (surprisingly) effective. I probably need more of an effort to cover/blend this sports bra tan, but this thing serves its purpose.
Loving Tan 2Hr Express – So, way back before I did the blog relaunch, I used another popular self tanner and broke out in the most PAINFUL rash ever. I don’t know what it was in the formula, but I was traumatized. It took me awhile to get the guts to leap back into using something. Being a blog fanatic, I saw a lot of beauty YouTubers using Loving Tan. I’m sure it had to do with a paycheck, but, I selfishly will do anything to use a promo code. Once I tried it, I absolutely love it – no joke. I think the thing I like best is how naturally it fades – it doesn’t scale off like a lizard (know what I’m saying?) It’s a really natural fade.
Soleil Toujours Sunscreen – The one pictured is the mist, but it looks like they may have discontinued that. I found the lotion – and the reason I love this one is it’s a mineral sunscreen, so doesn’t compete with the foam coloration that the self tanners provide.
Brazilliance™ Skin Rejuvenating Maracuja Self Tanning Face Towelettes – And for the grand finale, my favorite step. I made the mistake the first time of not using a glove or washing my hand right after applying (duh, Erin, it’s a tanning wipe) and I had one heavily darkened palm. I was also a little nervous that my heavy skincare regime wouldn’t bode well with this. It works just fine and provides a real even color with the LT foam on my body. It doesn’t even have that awful, fake tanner smell.
