Living in Boston doesn’t always bode well for beauty bloggers. All the new happenings and events are focused in NYC & LA. Who knew that this Summer, Boston would get a great beauty first.
Sephora Studio is a newer concept using the Sephora we all know and love, placing an emphasis on the services that the store has always offered. From makeovers, to mini facials and full 90-minute classes on cosmetics, the salon environment has a new home. After talking to some of the employees, I also learned this was the first Sephora Studio in the entire US – how neat is that! When Sephora CEO Calvin McDonald made an appearance, that’s when I realized what a big deal this concept launch really was.
Boston Magazine did such a tremendous job with this event. Everything from branded champagne glasses to a red carpet photo op, it was just the grand introduction this amazing location. The boutique like shop is perfect for Newbury. I got to talking to a few of the employees, and they said it took only a WEEK to set up the entire place – which BLEW me away. Also, it was incredible to see everything so pristine and untouched – is this is what Sephora looks like BEFORE everything is swatched?
Although the store was missing some items that a fully stocked Sephora may have, the selection was impeccable. I was going out of my way to find some of the brand new items (i.e. Benefit Boing concealer, Hourglass refillable lipsticks) and they had them. Every last shade.
Finally, Sephora knew what they were doing when they staffed this place! The employees seemed to all be from another store around the state, with two employees spending a good deal of time talking to me to make me feel really welcome. They took the top talent they had to ensure this new idea put their best foot forward – and they crushed it.
Sephora definitely has something special here – and it’s starting in Boston. Sephora Studio Newbury (88 Newbury Street,Boston) opens tomorrow, July 20th.
