How is Summer halfway over? Even though, I read an article today, we’re all going to roast in the Northeast at least until November (and I’m ok with that).
I didn’t wear too much makeup this month. I’ve been focused really on fitness through the month of July, and although I’d love to wear makeup at all points of the day, the breakout situation would be so real if I went full face to SoulCycle, ya dig?
My first absolute favorite product this month was the Hourglass Refillable Lipstick. Although the ‘refillable’ factor is unique, what I really loved was the formula of these lippies and the sleekness of the packaging. This is a super slim lipstick that is full of product, and I was actually sent this complementary from Influenster (in the color ‘I’ll Never Stop’). Since I’m a diehard for M.A.C. Velvet Teddy, this is a PERFECT shade comparison. I’ve been wearing it everyday and wore it to the Sephora Studio Opening last week. I got SO many compliments. It does transfer a bit since it’s more of a velvet as opposed to a matte lipstick, but for the most part stays put for hours.
Another lipstick I’m obsessed with is the newer NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment. Also, totally in love with the packaging. I purchased the color ‘Slow Ride’ (see here in the last series of photos for a lip swatch). This. Does. Not. Move. I really would’ve preferred a more warm nude – this is a burnt orange color. I bought it online so wasn’t really sure if the swatch I saw was what I wanted, but had heard good things either way (that’s the downfall of Sephora online ordering when I’m too lazy to just go look at it myself in Fanuel Hall). But, it’s incredible nonetheless. If you need a long-wearing lipstick and don’t mind a dry-matte formula, this is a winnah.
Final makeup product for July is the KKW Contour Stick. OK, I know. It’s SO hard to buy – I was just texting with someone like why can’t we just love something that we can grab at the store or on the web whenever we need a refill? Why do I have to sit online during a restock? I mean, good for her. I wish I had something people were scrambling to get – more power to her. But, I hate doing this to myself – loving something that sells out all the damn time (i.e. cue my love for the Jaclyn Hill Palette). This blends SO well – and the tone (I use medium), is PERFECT for my skin tone (wayyyy less of an orange tint than the Benefit stick). At first I was underwhelmed, there’s legit like .00004 oz of product in this – is she serious? But, I got mine during the first launch and used it almost every weekend – and still have a good deal of product left. The highlight stick though I think is garbage. The highlight is super subtle and doesn’t show up over my foundation IMO, and I’m all set. I wish you could just buy the contour part, but honestly, it’s $48 good – even if you throw everything else out. Seriously, I think it’s that good.
When it comes to fitness, there’s a few things I’ve been dying over this month. The first is these fitness crops from Primark. Unless you’re in New England or Europe, you can only get these at the Primark physical locations (they don’t have an online store, sorry)! But, they are SO CHEAP. Like seriously, $7. And they LAST. I bought a bright, red one thinking once I washed it everything I own would also be red due to bleeding. NOT the case. Such good quality for the price. The second is this almond milk. For those who’ve been reading for a bit, know I’ve moved most of my eating to ‘Whole 30’ principals, and cut dairy out of my diet completely. However, instead of just moving to a non-dairy milk, it’s important to still read the ingredients (no point in eliminating calcium to replace with sugar). This one is just out of this world – a nice, 24 oz cold brew with a splash of this is my morning routine.
