What better way to test out a new long-wear foundation than during an outdoor event in the dead of Summer. I spent the weekend at the Newport Folk Festival and was super excited to test out some new stuff while I was there.
As much as I loved the Giorgio Armani Power Fabric, I was ready for a new matte finish foundation. Since I’m borderline OBSESSED with Laura Mercier translucent powder, figured it was worth a shot. The below shot is my start of day look – with a complete breakdown of everything else I’m wearing, of course. You know I wouldn’t ever do you like that! I didn’t use any edits, so you could see the full effects of the foundation – so, you’re totally welcome for the close-ups of my wrinkles and fine lines.

I was outside in direct sunlight for eight, straight hours. Insert photo of brutal arm sunburn here (SPF on my body was NOT as strong as the SPF on my face, unfortunately):
So, needless to say it was a long day. The bottom picture is my end result (around 5 PM ish). You can see, a lot of the full-coverageness (is that a word) has worn off. This is a combination of sweat and another layer of sunscreen sprayed on top, but a decent amount of makeup is still left on my skin. My skin has a decent amount of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars and freckles – all the great things that a full-coverage foundation was invented for in the first place. Also, did my eyebrows even flinch?!
I’ve given it a go today too for my everyday makeup look (no outside exposure, just sitting at a desk), and the powdery finish is amazing. It’s important to remember too, I didn’t use setting spray – I stayed overnight in Rhode Island, and forgot to pack some. Not bad without it, I think! I have a feeling this one may be an August favorite.
Have you guys tried it? What did you think? What are your favorite Summer foundations?
