Influenster was ever-so-kind to send over a couple of the new Kate Somerville Exfolikate collection that I started testing out last night. Since I need to be a little meticulous about what I’m putting on my face in my old age (see my acne tips and tricks post for more on those shenanigans), I didn’t want to go too H.A.M. with these things (especially the Daily Foaming Wash & Exfoliating Treatment). I did use them once last night before bed, but switched back to my trusty Rodan & Fields Unblemish because I’m a chicken.
The only note I really had about this was that the exfoliator is really, really faint. I LOVE the exfoliaters that seem like they’re taking off three layers of skin and leaving you with a brand, new face (you know what I’m sayin’?) The face wash had a really nice, faint cucumber scent (which threw me back to Cucumber Melon body spray from Bath & Body Works….and I loved every second of it). Both were fine, but again, I won’t be digging too deep into using them and avoid a skinpocolypse.
That being said, I think I can give a decent first impressions of the Exfolikate Glow Moisturizer. I find the Rodan & Fields one to be a bit oily, so have been on the hunt for a good one. I LOVE the Tatcha Water Cream, but god knows I’m not thrilled about dropping $70 on a moisturizer. Although, the Exfolikate is $65 retail. If it can play the same field as Tatcha, I’m into it.
First thoughts – the smell is AMAZING – like mint and lime mixed together, so refreshing at the same time. Also, you get a decent amount of product and a very small amount goes a loooong way (similar to the Water Cream). A small dip in spotted around your face is more than enough. The initial application is a little tacky, which I could see being helpful before makeup application – having almost primer qualities of keeping your makeup intact.
A Week In – Now that I’ve been using it for about a week, my feelings are no more than ‘meh’. I don’t see any drastic changes, and I don’t really feel like my makeup looks any better. For the same price as the Water Cream, I think I’ll stick to what I know.
