I initially introduced you guys to this little wonder in my ‘what’s new’ with Wet & Wild a few months ago. During my first impression I really loved it, but over the past few months I’ve become borderline obsessed. Like, there is no high end foundation out there right now that’s beating it for me – and honestly, Maybelline Pro-Glow is a close second (the drugstore is killing it over the last year or so).
There are so many details about this foundation that are tremendously great. I’ve also read a handful of reviews where people were hesitant to try because of the price point – like how can something be so affordable and so game changing? Also, before you purchase and totally go H.A.M in the comments section, the smell is pretty awful at first – identical to paint. Which can’t be great for my acne prone skin, but smells aside, this stuff is great. And, it never made me breakout – so that’s always worth mentioning!
Applicator – I’ve seen a lot of other bloggers refer to it as the ‘spatula’ (all with mixed feelings). I love it. I think it distributes product well and takes out the perfect portion for application. Recently, I’ve been using this Sigma brush pictured to buff it out, but a BeautyBlender works just as great. It is a matte finish with full coverage depending on how much you use. It distributes SO evenly – even if I have texture on my face. I so casually just drag the little spoon across my forehead – like the truly talented beauty blogger that I am.
Finish – Matte as heck, just how I like it. It also dries really quickly, which makes it easy when I’m in a rush butttt still want to contour. Do you ever find if you have a contour stick and your foundation hasn’t dried yet, and you get out of the car and your face looks like a tiger stripe? I wish I could say I’ve perfected this face thing, but I haven’t and that still happens to me at least once a week. Mostly, because I’m too impatient.
Price Point – Like, COMMON. How can you get better than $5? AND get a quality makeup product?! That’s unbeatable in my opinion – even E.L.F. can’t top this. I still can’t believe it’s only $5 – so, for those of us who are obsessed can stock up and not feel guilty about it. Because nothing is worse than your favorite item being discontinued and you don’t notice until you run out and go out to buy more (sinful, even).
Shade Range – With 20 tints available, it’s not the greatest shade range, but it’s also not the worst. Has anyone had an experience with not being able to find the best shade for their skin with this, let me know in the comments. My shade is ‘peach natural’ – I could go a little less pink (I’m usually a neutral/medium tone in any foundations), but it’s still a good match for me I feel – I could be wrong. Someone let me know, TYSM.
Finally, the absolute BEST part of this foundation is the whole premise behind it is how great it’s supposed to look in pictures (spoiler alert – IT DOES). I mean, the label does say it was tested on the top smartphone models….whatever the hell that means.
